cool event tonight (thursday!) on what else but aliens.
This is Emily, your friendly neighborhood librarian. Things are bustling at the library on this cloudy winter day, but my morning was brightened when I stumbled across this amazing sketchbook by Alexandre Paiva from Sao Paulo, Brazil! This may look like a hand drawn landscape, but it is actually stitched into the pages with needle and thread! Amazing! I myself occasionally dabble in the textile arts, but in my opinion this takes needlepoint to a whole new level. To see more of these crazy embroideries, stop by the library and check out his shetchbook!
And for those you who were planning on microwaving leftovers for dinner and watching reruns on tv, put on your party shoes because we are hosting a very exciting event this evening. Granta magazine is coming from 7-9 to discuss their newest issue: ALIENS! There will be a discussions of all sorts of things alien (unidentified objects, feeling alienated, being an international alien), and of course, free wine. So grab your friends and come on over!
